Mount Rushmore was a surprise to me - I didn't expect to be so moved to see the monument. It's one of the most powerful patriotic experiences I've had. We had the opportunity to walk the trail at the base of the mountain, which gave us some different perspectives on the faces of these great men from our history.

A place I would love to visit. Beautiful.

Imagine I have been there visiting my American aunt in 1971 !! Nothing has changed, the heads are still there, the only thing was, there were now way and no wall and no tourists at all, it was built and left and we saw it pure nature. On the opposite side they wanted to do the same with an American Native chef, we could see a half finished nose and some feathers, and a pointing arm, and 10 years later it hadn't changed, and I suppose you haven't seen the American Native monument either. I think they gave up the idea. I was very impressed, because when we were there a man was sitting on a nose, I don't know whom nose it was, but he looked like a flea !!
ReplyDeleteI really like images with those different perspectives (at the base). never seen images from that point.
ReplyDeleteSo cool! That's something I'd like to see some day. :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I imagine they would be surprised to see themselves up there.
