Little Painted Desert

Unfortunately we visited the Little Painted Desert on an overcast day when the colors weren't intense, but the view was still amazing. If, like me, you once thought desert would be barren and uninteresting, you must visit the American southwest.

  10. The rugged simplicity of a place many would call barren - maybe, but th ruble and many colors add a nice style to this land of artistry...

  38. Hey! No fair copying my images :). I have similar ones from my painted desert but we were at the big one. That was one reason why I brought my all around lens with me when I was there (the 18-250 Tamron 1:2 macro) because I knew I would want to take closeups. I did not know at the time what those close ups would be and some of them were the wildflowers. They are so small that without a macro they would not show up. I even had folks comment that they did not realize flowers grew at the Grand Canyon.

    1. I wondered if the Little Painted Desert would be a smaller version of the big one, or if they were quite different. I didn't see any flowers but we didn't climb down much of a distance into the desert.

I've seen photos of beautiful flowers at the Grand Canyon. Perhaps you'll showcase some of yours?
