The last couple of weeks I shared the drawings we made in the class I took on botanical drawing. This week I'll share my first few attempts without an instructor. Hope you can guess what I've drawn!
A new venture for me...
One thing I always wished I had was artistic talent, but I must have been absent the day that was handed out. But for kicks, I took a class in botanical drawing. The instructor taught some basic techniques for rendering a sketch in pencil and ink, and I found that I could use those techniques that - believe it or not - often resulted in sketches that were recognizable. I'm going to share a couple of my earlier attempts and see if you can guess what the flower is!

Sea changes
When we arrived, the sky was threatening.
It started to clear a bit as we went in to dinner.
We came out to a beautiful sunset!
The following day we were intrigued to see this tree with most of the roots uncovered, yet still clinging to life.
And a beautiful "Carolina blue sky" greeted us the following morning.
