More quarantine baking!
This time, I made challah, using the recipe from Peter Reinhart's Artisan Breads Every Day. If you're interested in making quality bread, you can get it on Amazon.com, and you really should! I've never found a recipe of his that wasn't delicious.
Just one problem - the smell of the bread baking and cooling down before slicing nearly drove me nuts.
And for a special breakfast (Wednesday is our 48th anniversary!), try this recipe for Meyer Lemon French Toast.

DeleteI bet it does drive you crazy, baking bread has to be one of the best smells in the world. It's nourishment, love and home to me. My grandma used to bake bread a lot although it wasn't challah. I remember using challah for french toast when I worked baking and serving food at a local temple, though, it's sweetness makes it a great choice for French bread.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue. Yes, baking bread is very dangerous because the baker is liable to eat it all before the family get home.
ReplyDeleteGosh! They look amazing! There is nothing better than the smell of freshly baked challah.
