Los viejos
I found rows and rows of these delightful "viejos" in San Diego years ago. It's amazing what people can do with corn husks and paint!

It is amazing what can be done with some ingenuity.
ReplyDeleteI like the sepia edit - it showcases the classic look of the characters in their corn husk art. Nice!
ReplyDeleteThere are people who are artistic and then there's me! Thanks for today's meeting Sue.
ReplyDeleteFirst time I have seen these how clever ..fascinating :-)
ReplyDeleteNever a dull post at your blog! Interesting!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting, I've never seen this particular type before but I remember dolls whose heads were made from dried apples.
ReplyDeleteAmazing art work with natures materials. I used to call my dad El Viejo, lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that human nature always wants to create art and beauty, no matter how humble the materials. In Ghana I saw window coverings made of strings of bottle caps.
ReplyDeleteVery cool artwork. I can see building a whole miniature village out of these.
ReplyDeleteThose are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletevery creative!

ReplyDeleteFabulous characters. Love them. They're different. I like different.
ReplyDeletewow that's made of husk!! fabulous.
ReplyDeleteMost people are more creative than they think they are. Folk art and military trench art just a couple of examples of what people can do with minimum tools and a little imagination. Very nice images.
ReplyDeleteTHe corn husk people are really unique.
ReplyDeleteAlways loved the 'corn people' been a long time since I owned any though! Great photos.

Hawk aka BrownDog
Very cool! Aren't the faces made from Apples. My mom used to make dolls like this when she was a kid because they didn't have the money for real dolls, though these are clearly art.

Our world surprises us all the time!
ReplyDeleteVery different from the american corn husk dolls!...interesting.
ReplyDeleteVery creative!
ReplyDeleteSue, thanks for hosting. I've seen them look like rural mountain folks in these parts, so it's kinda cool how others adapt their corn husk dolls to their way communities as these corn husk dolls look like they are from the southwest - cool!
ReplyDeleteThose are so intriguing - great capture!
ReplyDelete:)
Traci
Beautiful images.
