A prickly situation... from the archives


This last shot is of me back in the day when I was 5 feet tall, standing beside what was said to be the tallest saguaro cactus in the state of Arizona. The base of the cactus is down in a gully, so it's even taller than in looks in this picture. That's a LOT of cactus!

  23. Whoa! That saguaro cactus is huge! I love that cacti come in so many shapes and sizes. And it's amazing how bright the flowers can be. :)

  27. Those cacti are magnificent. Once when we were in Spain we went to a place that grew hundreds of different varieties. I bought three tiny ones and they all grew well. One had a small red flower but no matter how much the cactus grew the flower never grew or wilted. One day I had a closer look and it was a plastic one that had been stuck in the cactus!
