While we were in Charleston, West Virginia, we had the opportunity to walk around the state capital ground. They were beautifully maintained and the dome of the capital is a stunning site, especially when viewed against a beautiful blue sky and lit by the sun.
This was taken just before a very dramatic thunderstorm - I barely had time to get back to "home base". |
I don't know the meaning of the symbols on the dome - I guess it's time for some research! |
Hi Sue. That is one beautiful dome especially in the sunlight. It looks to have some eastern influence but I guess it won't have. Thanks for the link today.
ReplyDeleteMagnifique. The dome is particularly stunning
ReplyDeleteWow... what an interesting visit. I wished to visit too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting
Happy September and Labor Day! Enjoy your time in Charleston, Sue. It is a beautiful city.
ReplyDeleteI love the way the gold catches the light - lovely stuff!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful building structure!
ReplyDeleteHappy Labor Day!
ReplyDeleteThat's a place I've only ever read about.
ReplyDeleteI love the gilded dome. Someday I wish I could visit too.
ReplyDeleteThe dome is a majestic sight to behold! WOW!
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings, Sue
I adore how the gold sparkles when the light hits it.

Impressive building. Yes it would be interesting to know the history behind the symbols. Enjoy your week and thankyou again for the linkup. We have been away for a 9 week caravanning trip to the other side of Australia - but now I am back and blogging again.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photos. Great post.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that the storm delayed its arrival, permitting you beautiful photos. As you did, I researched capitol domes and found eleven were encrusted with gold leaf to varying degrees. Ours in Connecticut is included. There is also a Gold Building in downtown Hartford, GT but I do not think it was constructed with any gold.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThe dome looks amazing.
I've seen some state capitals, but never this close of the domes. Very impressive building!
ReplyDeleteExcellent pictures! I remember seeing that dome from the interstate. It’s hard to mess.
ReplyDeleteNice photos, Sue! That dome on the building is amazing. Glad you made it back to hime base before that storm. :)
ReplyDeleteA special building, full oh history. You make me curios about those symbols.
ReplyDeleteIf you discover something maybe you'll find time to share. Could be some esoteric ideas!
All the best in this new week! ❤️😘
That dome is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics. The dome looks so very cool. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteI have driven through there, and yes it is a striking view to see. So glad you got photos to share as I have never managed that. Thanks for sharing with Pictorial Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteStrangely, my husband and I had a discussion of state capitols we've been through but never visited the capitol grounds just the other day. We need to start visiting these. My favorite picture of the series was the second one. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI can see you had fun with Capitals.
